Over 500 years of history

The Joseph Mellot story began in 1513 with Pierre-Étienne Mellot and expanded in 1698 when César Mellot became King Louis XIV’s wine advisor. Generations of the Mellot family have cultivated their Sancerre heritage as winemakers and restaurateurs, including the 1947 creation of a wine bar in Paris by Edmond and Joseph Mellot. Under the leadership of Alexandre Mellot, the estate expanded to all the appellations of the Centre-Loire region.

Craftsmanship in every bottle

Joseph Mellot’s wines reflect a meticulous attention to detail, from plot-by-plot harvesting at optimum ripeness to modern winemaking techniques. Grapes are delicately pressed to preserve their purity, and some appellations undergo cold maceration and ageing on lees to enhance aromatic complexity. This approach ensures that each bottle embodies the distinctive style of Joseph Mellot wines.
