  • Terroir
With 20 years’ experience in working with Swartland Syrah, Boekenhoutskloof managed to identify individual parcels for this hand-crafted wine. Dryland vineyards naturally have lower yields and produce smaller berries. The iron-rich soils of the area lend exceptional power to the wine.
  • Vinification and maturation
Minimal interference during fermentation and ageing led to a wine which truly reflects the typical climate and unique sense of place.
  • Features
The intense nose is upfront, tasty and perfumed. The violets and red fruit of the nose follows through onto a full, fleshy mid-palate with flavors of young berry, blueberry and blackberry and notes of vanilla, cloves, nutmeg and candied orange peel. The wine is robust, yet smooth and richly textured. It shows exceptional balance with vibrant, yet integrated acidity. The wine ends with hints of sweet spice lingering on its focused finish.
  • Food Pairings
Great association with beef burger and blue cheese, beef fajitas, as well as a couscous royal, or a duck leg confit.
  • Other information
    RS: 3.3 g/L · TA: 4.91 g/L · pH: 3.8
