From a crumbly pink granitic soil, the grapes come from old vines of an average of 50 years of age that are situated above the village of Chénas.
Vinification and maturation
The harvest is done manually. Mr Brun carries out vinification with the Bourguignon method with sorting, de-stemming and treading. He does not practice carbonic maceration and he will raise one third of his harvest in barrels.
Purple color with great depth. A nose of great finesse with aromas of cherries in kirsch, violets, spices and undergrowth. A very complex wine with silky tannins. Its aging potential is 5 to 6 years.
Ideal with red meat, game and strong cheeses. It is recommended to decant while in youth.
- “Elderberry, blueberry, and marrow rich beef stock dominate Brun’s 2009 Moulin-a-Vent Brown spice, fruit seeds, rose hip, and chalky, somehow ore-like, stony impingements make for a vivid sort of complexity, informing a finish of vibrant, interactive intensity.” – Parker
