Terroir From a crumbly pink granitic soil, the grapes come from old vines of an average of 50 years of age that are situated above the village of Chénas.
-
Vinification and maturation The harvest is done manually. Mr Brun carries out vinification with the Bourguignon method with sorting, de-stemming and treading. He does not practice carbonic maceration and he will raise one third of his harvest in barrels.
-
Features Purple color with great depth. A nose of great finesse with aromas of cherries in kirsch, violets, spices and undergrowth. A very complex wine with silky tannins. Its aging potential is 5 to 6 years.
-
Food Pairings Ideal with red meat, game and strong cheeses. It is recommended to decant while in youth.
-
Other information - “Elderberry, blueberry, and marrow rich beef stock dominate Brun’s 2009 Moulin-a-Vent Brown spice, fruit seeds, rose hip, and chalky, somehow ore-like, stony impingements make for a vivid sort of complexity, informing a finish of vibrant, interactive intensity.” – Parker
