Deutz Brut Classic

Terroir

The Deutz champagne house procures grapes from over 110 hectares of vineyards located where the best vintages of the historic Champagne region grow. Prolonged aging in cellars dug into the Ay commune’s sedimentary chalk ensures the champagne blooms and develops complex aromas. Deutz Brut Classic is the perfect embodiment of the high quality this champagne house delivers.

Vinification

To make its Brut Classic, Maison Deutz uses grapes from all over the Champagne region, 80% of which are premiers crus and grands crus. The blend pays homage to the appellation’s three grape varietals – Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay – each of which accounts for one-third. Only the best press juices are retained in a traditional vinification process that ends with a cellar maturation of several years and between eight and ten grams of sugar per litre.

Features

The signature Deutz golden robe and fine bead are characteristic of wines that have benefited from a long maturation on the lees. The wine’s very expressive bouquet at first reveals floral notes (hawthorn, white flowers) followed by aromas of toast, marzipan and ripe fruit (apples, pears). The palate combines the freshness of Chardonnay, the creaminess of Pinot and an elegant vinosity. The aromas are well melded, and the texture is silky. In the mouth, the wine rounds off on a very persistent fruity note.

Food Pairings

Ideal served as an aperitif or with foie gras, oysters, smoked salmon, quail, smoked fish or red-berry desserts.
